Comments:

It was the annual wax your snowboard party at Jack's. It was great to see the BFGSC crew again even though we had some members missing (you know who you are). And yes your eyes are not deceiving you that is me waxing my own board. I broke down this year and did it myself. Greg said it was the best wax job ever! It looks like the group has been making trips to Coates MN BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNS!

Hopefully the next post is very soon meaning we will be on the slopes!

Saturday December 1st, 2007 Lutsen

Date & Location: Saturday December 1st, 2007 Lutsen

Snow & Weather: 22 degrees Snowing

Vertical feet & runs: 11,320 feet 18 runs

Season Total: 11,320 feet 18 runs

Comments: Rode with cuz Jeff. He made me drink too many beers the night before. It was first day out for season and first day on new knee. It went really well. We shredded Moose Mountain and we rode in a snowstorm for the 2nd half of the day. We are gonna see Brother Ali at Papa Charlie's tonight. We had impressive numbers for first day out for the year. I was sad that Bridge Run wasn't open yet. Cuz Jeff is the only true snowboarder I know! My hands got cold because I now have skinny fingers. We got to bar at 3:30pm and it is now 5:50pm and CJ is making me stay here. Six Blue Moons make Matt drunk and CJ weird. I think Stheve might make an appearance tonight.

Jeff: It was a good first day. There was real snow falling pretty much all day. We're going to see Brother Ali tonight which should be pretty sweet. Hopefully they will actually serve us at the bar unlike earlier in the day.

Season Total: 21,070 feet 42 runs

Comments: Rode with Cuz Jeff and Glen. Drove down to Welch after work, got our passes and did some turns. The snow was really nice. We said hi to Mary. Jeff saw me bite it pretty good in the Valley of Death. It was the first time out without my Linus blanket aka knee brace.

Glen: First day of the year!! I had a blast, but we need to help CJ with his camera skills. Lutsen here I come.

Jeff: It was a good first day at Welch. Sparks and buckets are back!

Comments: We play Rockband! We drink a lot! We snowboard good! I rode with (and by rode I mean on the mountain at same time) CJ, Glen, DBD, Christina, Pete, Terra, Greg, Josh, Nate, Skier Shaun, Heather, and Rhett. Greg and I rode together all day and were going for 20k vertical feet but stupid lift lines prevented that.

CJ: Lutsen + Rockband + BFGSC= FUN! "Wanted Dead or Alive" rules!

Wednesday December 26th, 2007 Welch Village

Date & Location: Wednesday December 26th, 2007 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 30 degrees 4" new and sluffy with hidden ice

Vertical feet & runs: 5,820 feet 18 runs

Season Total: 47,410 feet 89 runs

Comments: Rode with Sean & CJ. Roley and I got to Welch about 2pm after doing a pre-Welch King's run. Rode for over an hour then CJ met up with us. He promised to go to Colorado next week. It is fun not having a job!

Roley: 2nd time at Welch! I'm feelin it. 6 days to Wapner. Jeff had a good Xmas. Now trip is foursome. Good deal. Me go to edges to suck up loose piles wasted by meat gates. I love weekday riding even during Xmas time!

CJ: New snow at Welch was good times. Lots of people though. If I go to CO it well be awesome.

Thursday December 27th, 2007 Welch Village

Date & Location: Thursday December 27th, 2007 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 30 degrees hard pack and a little icy

Vertical feet & runs: 3,580 feet 11 runs

Season Total: 50,990 feet 100 runs

Comments: Rode with Sean. We are prepping for Colorado. Welch was crazy busy again today but it was still fun. It was 25 minute wait for food at Mad Jaxx and Bonnie put the smack down over the intercom on some disrespectful bitches. It was my first day on my straps and SL9s. First hour can you say OUCH! But I figured it out and continued the day.

Sean: I come from a land called Awesome.

Saturday December 29th, 2007 Welch Village

Date & Location: Saturday December 29th, 2007 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 24 degrees hard pack with a lil sluff and a lil ice

Vertical feet & runs: 4,660 feet 14 runs

Season Total: 55,650 feet 114 runs

Comments: Rode with Glen, CJ, and Greg*. Welch was insanely busy again. We did some Chicken steeps off-piste in prep for Colorado. Glen ripped. CJ was a little suspect. CJ ripped when I followed him down the steeps. I guess he will have to pay me to follow him in Colorado so he doesn't die. Pete's Pike was my favorite run of the day. Bonnie gave us Mad Croc hats and we drank Mad Croc. Total Red Bull rip-off. *Greg skied today. Yes I said skied. I told him that could get him put up for eviction from the BFGSC. Then he said it was for a girl and then I told him that is even worse and it could now be immediate eviction. Then he said it was for the kids and I said I would forgive him this one time.

CJ: Greg's a SKIER!

Glen: I tore it up today! I can't wait to hit Summit County on Wednesday. Had a blast today with Matt & CJ, although CJ was looking rough. I'll see you Mr.Journal on Wednesday! Blue Balls?

Shooshbag Greg: Skiing with Kris, Sierra, Jade. I hate snow plowing (hurts my gluticus maximus) Happy New Year!

22.10.07

Sunday December 30th, 2007 Welch Village

Date & Location: Sunday December 30th, 2007 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 19 degrees nice hard pack

Vertical feet & runs: 5,290 feet 16 runs

Season Total: 60,940 feet 130 runs

Comments: Rode with Pope, Josh, Mike (Josh's friend), Jack, Finney, Chad, and Mike G. The group looked bad ass all together on the hill. I liked to go first so I didn't look crappy following all the other awesome riders. Pope got big air! Some kids were oogling Josh's board. I rode Jack's Supermodel! Damn I forgot my camera, sorry no photos today.

Pope: First time out and good times, except I kept on falling into Matt off the lifts. I did get big air, like 2 inches or so and I fell. Rode over 10 different runs overall.

Findog: The old crew back 18 years back. Open this hill as a garbage dump during the summer for more vert! Thanks for the invite.

Jack: Yea! Playtime is good! Hanging with the crew is great times!

Wednesday January 2nd, 2008 Beaver Creek

Date & Location: Wednesday January 2nd, 2008 Beaver Creek

Weather & Snow: 22 degrees fun snow

Vertical feet & runs: 11,300 feet 6 runs

Season Total: 72,240 feet 136 runs

Comments: Rode with Glen, CJ, and Sean. My first day in Summit County. It was super fun! Sean and I had a picnic on the ridge with Prince. Then we found some pow pow after a small hike. They were fun trees but both Sean and I became snowpeople at one point. Did you know rich people are better looking? (actual quote from a shooshbag skier).

CJ: How come there are no Wendy's between Des Moines and Lincoln? Oh well. The drive was fun and the riding was more fun. I wish we would have found our last run of the day earlier. It was cool. Riding in cool places with cool people is cool!

Glen: I found the only damn ice patch at Beaver Creek, ouch! I still had a blast today even if the mountain made me feel 37 after a day of riding. Vail, I'll see you manana.

Roley: Heard old jackass tell his buddy that "rich people are better looking than everyone else". Unprepared for impromptu Prince picnic to poach some powder. Matt really doesn't have much of a future in action photography or being a professional at not drinking Sambuca shots or not overshooting a sit up in powder to dive in head first. Beaver Creek came through for the powder stashes. I hate smoke detectors with low battery level.

Thursday January 3rd, 2008 Vail

Date & Location: Thursday January 3rd, 2008 Vail

Snow & Weather: 32 degrees packed pow blue bird day

Vertical feet & runs: 14,410 feet 9 runs

Season Total: 86,650 feet 145 runs

Comments: Rode with CJ, Glen, and Sean. Vail=HUGE! We did back bowls all day and rode hard. Lots of bumps. We did a hike and found some fresh pow turns. It wasn't that far of a hike but it was challenging at 12,550 feet (give me air). It was totally worth it as got our 15 "Glory turns" of the trip. My favorite run was Champagne Glades. CJ gets a Gold Medal he rode awesome and kept up with Sean and I. Last run of the day was 3,000 feet summit to base leg burner. Awesome way to end the day!

Glen: I had an OK day. I rode about 7k vertical today but I got my groove back cruising Northwoods. My legs feel much better after going easy today combined with skipping the cold tub.

Roley: I hurt.

CJ: The back bowls and Moonlight Basin (I mean Blue Sky Basin) are lots of fun. I rode good today and got some powder.

19.10.07

Friday January 4th, 2008 Copper Mountain

Date & Location: Friday January 4th, 2008 Copper Mountain

Snow & Weather: 32 degrees 2-4" of new fluff

Vertical feet & runs: 16,030 feet 9 runs

Season Total: 102,680 feet 154 runs

Comments: Rode with Sean, Glen, and CJ. I love Copper Mountain. It was my favorite of the three days in Colorado. We rode hard today. Did some fluffy bumps top to bottom. I wrenched my knee (surgery knee) and it made it feel better in the short term. But it now hurts in the end of the day. CJ made friends with a tree. I got Sean to do one more run after he was positive it was his last but I introduced him to a great tree run. Glen rode way awesomer today than yesterday! Me like Copper Mountain. I did my best performance run ever on a board today! Sorry about the last photo I guess you go a little crazy from being in altitude for a while and drinking too may beers.

CJ: Copper was sweet just like I remembered it! I hurt today, though. Need to get in shape for 6 days of riding in Montana! These guys rock! In your face!

Glen: You do what you gotta do and then you do it!

Roley: Fought through the pain and had the best of 3 days. Copper Mountain is by far my favorite Colorado mountain. 3" fell on us. Found fluffy powder in cool tree runs. Go figure I'm not as sore after final day. I don't want to spend $50 extra on Julesberg Motel so I will not clean any birds in room. Especially not in your FACE!!! It is also fortunate I don't have a motorcycle to wipe down with these towels.

Saturday January 12th 2008 Welch Village

Date & Location: Saturday January 12th, 2008 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 26 degrees spring corn snow

Vertical feet & runs: 2,800 feet 7 runs

Season Total: 105,660 161 runs

Comments: Rode with Ananda, Pete, Terra, and Vicki. What's up with spring corn snow in January? Terra got action shot of the day. Check out Vicki's super awesome Michael Jackson Thriller dance pose.

17.10.07

Sunday January 13th, 2008 Welch Village

Date & Location: Sunday January 13th, 2008 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 19 degrees corn snow

Vertical feet & runs: 5,690 feet 17 runs

Season Total: 111,350 feet 178 runs

Comments: Rode with Josh, Jeff, Sean, Glen, Pete, and Terra. Why do we have March snow in January? Why do ski racers try to fit in speed suits that are 2 sizes too small? I rode 2 runs switch I hate it! I saw an 11 year old Indianapolis Colts fan push his mom and tear his Manning jersey off. I love snowboarding! Did you see the stack of beer cups?

Pete: Great day riding!! Watched child Peyton Manning have a complete meltdown after the Colts failed to score game winning TD with two minutes left. He cried outside prior to coming back in to argue and punch his mom before heading back out to proceed to tear his Peyton Manning (18) jersey off his naked body, not stopping until it was completely shredded. He stomped the torn jersey into the snow and dirt before retiring to the car where he could more comfortably cry and punch himself in the head. We of course maturely watched this meltdown more closely than the final two minutes. ahhh a future axe murderer.

Terra: I'm sure I'd be the 9th person to comment on that little axe murderer... it was sweet... ha ha ha!

CJ: You know you! I win KOTH today but almost would have liked to lose to see the kids face if Indy would have won.

Roley: Yah! What they said. Welch Village snow is hit or miss. Today and a lot of days suck f***ing ass and beer is the reason to be here, except for the big fat suburb spandex gross skiers putting on their skin tight throat tightening outfits to make them get to the bottom .0005 seconds faster. I feel bad for Colts kid!!

Glen: Snow cones, no edges, big beers, fat chicks can't jump, koth ends, Josh rocks!, Stheve, and yes me!

16.10.07

Saturday January 19th, 2008 Welch Village

Date & Location: Saturday January 19th, 2008 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: -2 degrees crisp awesome snow

Vertical feet & runs: 6,770 feet 19 runs

Season Total: 118,120 feet 197 runs

Comments: Rode with Pope, Greg, BJ, Ryan and Shelly. It was super cold but super awesome! The snow was great and there was nobody here. Shelly taught me flat land 360's and how to ollie. I will make her proud. Greg's buddies, when I met them I couldn't see their faces because we were all wearing masks because it was so cold. I totally thought they were young dudes like 25 or something because they could rip. Then we went for a beer and they are old like us but still rip. They actually rip awesomely. I showed Shelly my favorite line at Welch on Dan's Dive. Now it is off to Rochester to party with Greg!

Greg: Wonderful snow conditions. It was good to ride with the BFGSC again!! Cold weather kept the Schush bag skiers at home. Meant more cordoroi for us :) xxx ooo

Pope: Riding was fricken awesome! Below zero + wind= no lift lines. No meat gates, had some Sparks, overall just a great time.

Wednesday January 23rd, 2008 Buckhill

Date & Location: Wednesday January 23rd, 2008 Buckhill

Snow & Weather: -4 degrees hard pack

Vertical feet & runs: 3,910 feet 10 runs

Season Total: 122,030 feet 207 runs

Comments: Rode with Jack. It was so cold that the family jewels almost froze to my inner thighs. I got back on the horse and did the jump that wrecked me last year and I was successful. I actually did 4 jumps today. I was working on my ollie as well. It was a beautiful red moon tonight. You can see it a little bit in the photo. Then me and Jack met Heather in the bar for some beer.

14.10.07

Sunday January 27th, 2008 Welch Village

Date & Location: Sunday January 27th, 2008 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 38 degrees nice soft snow

Vertical feet & runs: 5,860 feet 18 runs

Season Total: 127,890 feet 225 runs

Comments: Rode with Jack, Josh, Duane (Jack's friend), Glen, Ananda, Tony's Theme, Terra, Pete, and CJ. It was great weather and snow but it was very busy. I rode possessed today or maybe it was starting out with a double Sparks. Practiced ollies and put on a show for the crew and tried to ollie over a snow/ice boulder. I took off late and smacked my face. I spit blood for about a half hour. I almost cried and everyone laughed but I went back for seconds and stomped it the second time. Tony's Theme is looking good but I am disappointed that he will not be joining us in Montana. I got my new helmet today. Yuck I hate helmets. I saw a super hot snowboard bear that I wanted to invite into the BFGSC but I was too shy. You can see him in one of the photos (side profile).

CJ: Worst lift lines ever at Welch.

Glen: I rode awesome!

Ananda: Mad tricks today ...MAD!

Tony: I like Newcastle!

Terra: Good riding today. Warm too. Had trouble with lift today though. What up with that? Steamboat... here I come!!

Pete: I ate cookies and rode.

13.10.07

Sunday February 3rd 2008 Steamboat

Date & Location: Sunday February 3rd, 2008 Steamboat

Snow & Weather: 25 degrees 2" fresh and 2 feet over last 48 hours

Vertical feet & runs: 20,250 ft 12 runs

Season Total: 148,140 ft 237 runs

Comments: Rode with Pete, Terra, and Vicki. Superbowl sunday, GO NE! Great day Steamboat received about 2 feet in last 48 hours. Check out the crazy vert. I put on a bump clinic for the group. I was so impressed with everyone today. I saw Pete and Terra both do cartwheels in the pow pow. Vicki you are next. After about 15,000 vertical feet, Pete and I decided to hit Christmas Tree Bowl. I hate helmets. But my riding was so awesome it took away the dork factor of my helmet. I thought Pete got swallowed up by a tree well and died but he was OK. It is supposed to snow tonight. I hope so because I love Freshies! We now drink beer and watch Superbowl. Pete almost got in a fight with a skier. Skiers SUCK! Trees Trees Trees Trees Trees Trees Trees (sung to that hockey sporting theme song).

Vicki: Great day today! Thanks to Terra for inviting us! She is awesome. Today was a blast. We found lots of powder in trees. I love the tree runs here but I definitely learned I need to work on the bumps- lots of bumps with powder and I don't have the skills for that yet- I'll get there though! Now watching Superbowl and getting drunk- great day!

Terra: We'll start from the end. It's snowing still, we're hoping for 18" tonight. Watching the Patriots win the Superbowl and shots of Rumpleminze. Vicki and I suffered down some flat shit getting to the bar to scope out a place to watch the game. We did tons of runs though. Some trees and ran a little down the sides. Small snack at Four Points before hitting the tree run that Matt was looking for all day. Riding through some knee deep pow on Storm Peak Express. We didn't take the Gondola today...too windy, too slow. Egg & Sausage McMuffins. Oh yeah...I forget...Pete pushing that dude with the bad karma!

Peter: I ate brownies and rode! Yesterday we rode in waist deep powder. Today was only knee deep. Matt and I rode steeps in Xmas Bowl right after a skier pushed past Matt in the lift line only to trip and fall on the lift gate, we both chanted karma to the offending skier, and then I punched him (accidentally) as I tripped over the same rail. Epic solo run to end the day!

12.10.07

Monday February 4th, 2008 Steamboat

Date & Location: Monday February 4th, 2008 Steamboat

Snow & Weather: 20 degrees FRESHIES!!!

Vertical feet & runs: 18,470 feet 12 runs

Season Total: 166,610 feet 249 runs

Comments: Rode with Pete, Terra, and Vicki. Weather and snow report said 4-6" of new snow but that was so wrong, it was freshie powderlicious!! Tons of powder!! I should have ridden the Fish. We did lots of trees and lots of powder. I almost choked to death. I was riding some deep pow with my mouth open and powder flew up over my head and it went in my mouth and I almost choked. I had a boner all day! I was hella impressed with the girls powder skills except one run. Pete and I took Vicki and Terra down Kuu's Cruise/ 3 O'clock, it was deep powder. On the top half of the run the girls tore it up like champs. Not so much on the bottom half, it was like someone turned the switch off and they totally forgot how to ride. I don't know what happened. I heard Vicki make monkey noises on Fawn. Pete made me go back in the Closet and it was freshie awesome! Pete and I ripped Rolex trees and once we finished we looked up and thought "Holy shit did we just do that and not only do it but rip it." I had to give a bumps clinic yesterday and a powder clinic today. Pete took me down the "trees of death" to end the day. It was the only time today where I was in more of survival mode instead of ripping it fun mode. Let's hope for snow again tonight. We are now on our way to naked hot springs. EPIC Day!

Vicki: Powder, powder, and more powder! Today was the best. This was my first real experience with powder and I loved it! Felt really good except the end of the first run which Matt wrote about- definitely was like a light was switched off and skills went away for a little bit. Matt and I found kick ass powder run where powder was pretty much waist deep and flying over our heads at times. We did that run two more times to bring Pete and Terra there. Terra and I found a great run down to end the day, went by the superpipe and rode over the grind box. Definitely my best day ever with all the powder!!

Terra: Pow! It snowed all day long! And the powder was deep before we even took our first run! We were a little foolish and didn't think we needed to hit first lift up. Vicki and I rode awesome...taking some powdery steeps in the trees with Matt and Pete and then cruising along the tree lines on some blue cruisers. At times, the snow was waist deep! Those were the best runs except for... last run down Heavenly Daze to powder run by the superpipe. The powder was so light! And then we both rocked the grind box. Woo hoo! Woo hoo!

Peter: Pow...18 inches of fresh, white fun laid down for my riding enjoyment. I rode waist deep powder in the Closet. Managed to get "lost" around break time so I got in 3 more lifts than the rest of the team. Watched a roller coaster day for the girls... they were good, then bad, then good, then scared, then good. Matt and I ended the day in steep tight trees. YEAH!!

Blog Addendum: Matt, Terra, Pete and Vicki: Strawberry Springs Adventure...it started about 15-30 minutes late. We were greeted at the door by "Stoner Joe" (that's what we will call him) and climbed into a non-lighted green van. There was a dude already in the passenger seat (Slestak) wearing a white bathrobe and brown mamuska hat made out of racoon. We made a few stops...after a few wrong turns...after southern drunk blonde lady rudely noted that "weren't we already on this road"...and same drunk lady then noted "does your gas gauge work E means empty." So we continue, pick up another couple and head up to the springs. We were about 1/2 way there...even saw signs for the hot springs, when Stoner Joe slammed his head against the steering wheel and said "Fuck, I forgot to get gas." So we turn around and luckily Stoner Joe pointed out there was a liquor store next to the gas station. Score. Vicki went in (I buy you fly) to get Matt a Sparks unsuccessfully due to no ID. Meanwhile Stoner Joe was cursing, trying to pump gas into a leaky tank..."No wonder I get shitty gas mileage" said Stoner Joe. Pete guessed that the gas leak was about 1 gallon per hour after his inspection. So he puts in 6 gallons of gas and we're on our way. So we get to hot springs and unfortunately the other driver had all the flashlights in the other van so Stoner Joe bought the group (14 people) two pen lights and gave us his head lamp. We head down to the dark springs and soak for an hour and a half (with Pete and Matt taking full advantage of the clothing optional rule after dark) and when we head up the whole group is anxiously awaiting our arrival back as they had been done for a while. Then we were leaving and Vicki realized she had left her watch back in warming cabins so Matt and Vicki head back to get it and come back to the van exploded in flames- oh wait that is what Pete and Terra thought would happen due to the leaking gas tank- they thought Vicki and Matt strategically planned to delay their entry into the van. Our ride homes goes smoothly and when we tip Stoner Joe generously after nobody else tipped except for one couple, he says "Damn, thanks guys, the Europeans only gave me a $1 tip." The question lingering in our minds is Who exactly were the Europeans? as the only other couple that tipped was from the south.

Date & Location: Tuesday February 5th, 2008 Steamboat

Snow & Weather: 20 degrees Still FRESHIES!

Vertical feet & runs: 20,220 feet 15 runs

Season Total: 186,830 feet 264

Comments: Rode with Pete, Terra, and Vicki. There was still lots of freshies left from the big dump yesterday. Pete and I should have some bad karma coming our way. We were by the lift and some stupid skier lady wearing a big puffy white coat looking like the Michelin Marshmallow man came skiing by us out of control and almost hit Terra. She said "you shouldn't stop there." I yelled "well if you knew how to ski" and Pete yelled "where would you like us to wait, in line you stupid bitch." We thought the karma police were gonna tag us on the next run but we finished the day with no pay backs. Sweet! We did lots of trees and lots of deep snow. We hiked two times to Alarm Clock and Pete went off this ginormous booter. I was scared but he killed it. By the way I have a theory that Pete is a terminator from the future. He rode over 100,000 feet in 4 days. I almost died today. Running trees with Pete and came up to a 20 ft rock cliff and almost went over it and if so I would be dead because there were a ton of Aspens below the cliff. My board was hanging over the edge. I had to slide over to the side and basically hang from a tree to get down. It was one of the scariest experiences I have ever had and it put the mountain back into perspective. I talked Vicki and Terra (while terminator Pete was off riding like crazy) into doing two more runs. They not only did two more runs but poached a closed run down Christie lift line. We tore up some sweet powder turns with all the people on the lift above us hooting and hollering. We rock! I was impressed with the girls. A great trip. Thanks Pete and Terra for inviting me!

Vicki: Today was a bit rocky for me. Not sure what was wrong for the first part of the day but I think I needed some caffeine and didn't have it. I thought I'd be in by 2pm but things turned around and I stuck it out to lift close. We had such snow for this trip, very lucky! I owe thanks to Pete today for digging me out of numerous powder holes during my rough morning! Matt, Terra, and I finished the day with a couple great runs poaching the lift line, so a perfect end to the day. This was a great trip!!

Peter: We got up early after a night where I only slept 4 hours. I could not sleep as my brain wouldn't stop drawing sweet lines in the powder amongst the trees. Oh well time to ride. The snow was deep. We all took the Morningside Lift and hiked a bit before dropping in for some great powder turns. Terra pointed out a huge booter in the back country which I launched off and didn't die. Then we all got stuck in the deep snow except for Matt. We split up at some point and Matt and I killed some trees. Matt had a vision and we had to take the Elkhead Lift up to some trees. It turns out the vision may have been more of a premonition of his death...cliff. I then rode solo for the rest of the day cause...well I'm a snowboarding junkie. Hit the superpipe on the way out twice...scary but fun. We ate some tasty Mexican food at Rio Grande downtown Steamboat. I was super tired but 2 margaritas later was feeling better. We hit the OTP (Old Towne Pub) for a couple but most of the was a bit lethargic. We got a shuttle back and immediately hit the hay. Matt was a bit disappointed with our super Fat Tuesday party efforts. I rode in powder 4 days in a row. Well over a 100,000 vertical feet of bliss. Steamboat.

Terra: What a sweet trip! We rode like crazy in conditions that probably only happen once in a great while! Hopefully we get this lucky in Montana. Our first runs were through nice fluffy powder. Then we hit Morningside... it looked so fresh over there! Our run over there took a small hike and then we strapped in. So much fresh snow! I was a little nervous to venture off a track because the snow was so deep and I didn't want to get stuck. My body couldn't take a 15 minute struggle against the snow. Oh so sore! It was a good time, great friends and sweet times! We had some strong margaritas at Rio Grande and then watched a bunch of loony people dance at OTP. It was Mardi Gras and we squeezed the rubber chicken. Ha Ha! To Matt's disappointment that was probably the highlight of the evening. We shuttled back, went to bed and woke up to more fresh snow. Damn!

Thursday February 7th, 2008 Steamboat

Date & Location: Thursday February 7th, 2008 Steamboat

Snow & Weather: 24 degrees still even more FRESHIES

Vertical feet & runs: 15,430 feet 10 runs

Season Total: 202,260 feet 274 runs

Comments: Rode with Vicki. How about a bonus super pow pow day in Steamboat! YEA! Vicki and I spent many hours yesterday at the Hayden airport. We ended up with 3 canceled flights and no way home so United rebooked us for today at 5:03pm. Vicki was super stressed but then loved the bonus day. This meant we took the shuttle back to Steamboat and stayed at the fabulous Western Lodge. Vicki and I got up early and rode for 4 hours in beautiful freshielicious powder. I rode the best I have all week. I think because I had a day off sitting at the Hayden airport to rest legs and wish I was still on the mountain. After Vicki's comments we will breakdown each run for you. If you want to follow along click on the Steamboat link and open up a trail map. I had a blast in Steamboat!

Vicki: Bonus day today! Matt talked me into taking a later flight today and it was definitely a good move. The snow was great today and legs were fresh so we had a blast. We had limited time so we rode hard and fast. We found a good tree run with lots of fresh powder so that was probably best run of day. I had a blast in Steamboat- we were so lucky to get snow everyday! Here's hoping we're as lucky in Montana in two weeks!

10 Run Play by Play (pbp) starts at base Gondola:

Run #1 Matt: Rudi's Run-Lightning-Ego-Burgess Creek Chair
Vicki: same as above
pbp-Matt: Nice groomer to start with, some fluff on the sides.
Vicki: Good start, nice fast run

Run #2 Matt: Burgess Creek Lift Line-Burgess Creek Chair
Vicki: Tower-Norther-Lightning-Ego-Burgess Creek Chair
pbp-Matt: One of the first people up the Burgess Creek lift and saw tons of FRESHIES. It
was rad and I impressed some people on the lift.
Vicki: Found some nice powder on Norther.

Run #3 Matt: Velvet-Moonlight-Sundown Chair
Vicki: same as above
pbp-Matt: Nice little groomer, got to show Vicki the cliff I almost died on yesterday.
Vicki: Another nice groomer quick way to Sundown Chair.

Run #4 Matt: Kuu's Cruise-Sundown Lift Line-Shadows-Sundown Chair
Vicki: High Noon- 2 O'Clock-Daybreak-Sundown Chair
pbp-Matt: Saw some sweet pow from the chair so went solo to scout it out for Vicki and
found some totally awesome deep and mostly untouched freshies!
Vicki: Good run, found some powder on 2 O'Clock but a little disappointed as I thought
there would be more.

Run #5 Matt: Kuu's Cruise-Sundown Lift Line-Shadows-Sundown Chair
Vicki: Kuu's Cruise-Sundown Lift Line-Shadows-Duster-Lights Out-Sundown Chair
pbp-Matt: I took Vicki to my Freshies discovery as I knew she would love it and she did. We
split up at Duster traverse, I went into trees more and Vicki went around because
the trees were tight.
Vicki: Love this run only disappointing part was not enough speed on Duster and had to
hike until I reached Lights Out.

Run #6 Matt: Kuu's Cruise-Sundown Lift Line-Shadows-Sundown Chair
Vicki: same as above
pbp-Matt: This run is so filled with pow pow that we had to do it again but Vicki followed me
all the way down. Yea Vicki! We took a couple of cool photos as well.
Vicki: Good run again, bottom of Shawdows was a little tough for me so had to "elevator"
a little.

Run #7 Matt: Traverse-Closet-Sundown Chair
Vicki: High Noon-2 O'Clock-Daybreak-Sundown Chair
pbp-Matt: Vicki and I split for this run. I wanted to go back in the Closet. I would totally go
back in the Closet if it was as much fun as this with all of the powderlicious fun!
It was great pitch, nice trees and tons upon tons of Freshies! I totally made
monkey noises.
Vicki: Fun fast run, hit the powder edges of 2 O'Clock a little more this time.

Run #8 Matt: High Noon-Sunshine Lift Line-South Peak Chair
Vicki: same as above
pbp-Matt: Vicki and I ripped this groomer apart non-stop from top to bottom. That run will
never be the same again!
Vicki: I loved this run we ripped it and there was lots of powder on the sides of Sunshine
Legs burned at end of this run.

Run #9 Matt: South Peak Flats-Broadway-Broadway Trees- Elkhead Chair
Vicki: South Peak Flats-Broadway-Elkhead Chair
pbp-Matt: Holy shit! When I first dropped into these trees, I was a little nervous that I may
have bitten off more than I could chew. It was steep, the trees were tight as a 3rd
grader and the powder was the deepest of the trip. After first couple of turns I got
into zone and loved this run. One of my best ever!
Vicki: Least favorite run of the day, lots of slow skiers on narrow traversing run.

Run #10 Matt: Tower-Heavenly Daze-Lower Valley View-Stampede-DONE!
Vicki: same as above
pbp-Matt: Nice cruisy groomer at top section and bottom finish section. The run in the
middle that we had intended on hitting was closed so we did a really fun steep
groomer with some fluff on the sides. Great finishing run!
Vicki: Easy last run, wanted to poach Christie Lift Line but the access was completely
closed.

Tuesday February 12th, 2008 Buckhill

Date & Location: Tuesday February 12th, 2008 Buchkill

Snow & Weather: 11 degrees hard pack and icy

Vertical feet & runs: 3,070 feet 12 runs

Season Total: 205,330 feet 286 runs

Comments: Rode with Todd. Todd is a boarder that I met through Outboard. We decided to meet up and hit Buckhill. It was good times. He is a good rider and pretty fast. We rode a bit then hit up Tucker's for some food then a few more runs after that. It can be easy to get bored at Buckhill. It wasn't the best conditions since it was kind of chilly and a little icy but we had fun. Todd is a cool guy and it was great to meet a "family member" snowboarder and he is good looking as well :) Hopefully he can ride with us more in the future.

Saturday February 16th, 2008 Welch Village

Date & Location: Saturday February 16th, 2008 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 28 degrees nice firm snow

Vertical feet & runs: 12,720 feet 39 runs

Season Total: 218,050 feet 325 runs

Comments: Rode with Glen, Nate, CJ, Skier Shaun, Greg and Shelly. We had a goal set of 20,000 feet at Welch. We came out blazin but the lift lines made us abort the mission. We still did some respectable vert. Operations "scare the crap out of Nate" is still going strong.

Glen: Had a blast! Hit 12K feet today. I won a snap coozie, a hoodie, and some pint glasses. Holla! King's then Rockband!

Greg: Matt may say that the "lift lines" aborted our 20k mission, but I think it was the Moose Drool "drink a drool" contest at Madd Jaxx that had a bit more influence on our decision! In fact as I sit here sippin Moose Drool and admiring my brand new limited edition (made in Canada) Moose Drool Brown Ale belt buckle, I'd give 80% to the Moose Drool and 20% to the lift lines.

Skier Shaun: Don't forget the awesome leopard skin can coozie, the prizes are almost as nice as the weather. Just watch out for the racers as one took me out and I took out two kids what a great crash! Damn the alpiners, telemarkers, and racers!

CJ: Drank some Moose Drool. Got some free stuff. Did some runs. Big Sky has no idea what's coming it's way in a week. Greg is the worst pourer ever!!!

Nate: Moose Drool is awesome! I got 4 pint glasses, 2 hats, and a belt buckle the size of Montana. As with Shaun screw telemarkers, 2 plankers and of course alpiners!

Sunday February 17th, 2008 Welch Village

Date & Location: Sunday February 17th, 2008 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 30 degrees soft snow

Vertical feet & runs: 3,850 feet 12 runs

Season Total: 221,900 feet 337 runs

Comments: Rode with Glen, Vicki, Terra, and CJ. We rode a little and drank a lot. Pow took my picture!

Terra: Weak showing today. Pow! Getting ready for MT. Pow! Matt just photoed Pow! and is now asking her to take blog photo!

Vicki: Pretty lame day, rode little, sat in bar more, better do lots of stairs this week to get ready for MT! Can't wait for the weekend!

Glen: Hungover!

CJ: Rockband all night doesn't equate to getting to Welch early. Rode Glen's Custom X today and I think I rode it alright. I might have to get me something like that soon. Montana here we come! Can't wait for the drive.

6.10.07

Sunday February 24th, 2008 Big Sky

Date & Location: Sunday February 24th, 2008 Big Sky

Snow & Weather: 28 degrees 6" of freshies

Vertical feet & runs: 15,980 feet 10 runs

Season Total: 234,030 feet 335 runs

Comments: Big Sky is f*ckin HUGE! We had 6 inches of fresh. Oops oh yeah I rode with Josh, Pete, Terra, Nate, CJ, Glen, Sean and Vicki. It was really fun day. Lone Peak is SCARY! We did some super gnarly steep stuff. Found lots of freshies in the trees. We are headed to Shedhorn for some trees tomorrow. I was sad that Sean and Nate didn't go to Lone Peak it was only Josh, Pete and myself and the visibility was zero. We went to Black Bear Bar Apres ski. Josh and Pete were slap happy.

CJ: Snow and mountains and BFGSC= AWESOME times! Even after a 15 hour drive.

Roley: I like Big Sky. Beer hates me today. Video footage is totally awesome so I'm good soooo....

Pete: Big Sky you remember me bitch...ya I thought so I went

Glen: I survived the "great" stomach bug on my first day. Actually I tore it up all things considered. Summit I'll see you manana.

Vicki: Today was great! The freshies we had were nice and unexpected. I got "lost" for an hour today by myself trying to make it back. Perfect first day.

Nate: WOW!!! My virgin run on a mountain. I just can't believe how cool it was! I give the day an A++++. I decided not to hit the summit today. Maybe tomorrow and head to Shedhorn. Mountains f*ckin rock!

5.10.07

Monday February 25th, 2008 Big Sky

Date & Location: Monday February 25th, 2008 Big Sky

Snow & Weather: 27 degrees 4" Freshies

Vertical feet & runs: 14,280 feet 10 runs

Season Total: 248,010 feet 345 runs

Comments: Rode with Josh, Sean, Glen, Nate, Pete, Terra, CJ, and Vicki. We had 4" of new snow and found lots of freshies. Everyone but the ladies did the summit today. Good job guys! No visibility again at the top. I careened off some rocks and got the biggest/ deepest hip contusion ever! It is a level 3 deep muffin top/ gluteus maximus contusion. I tore my new coat, ripped my favorite gloves and tore open the palm of my hand. OUCH! Thankfully it is not the "take care of business" hand. Me now very sore! Sean, CJ, and I closed out the day (after a little coaxing) on the Lone Peak triple chair. We could still see the Tram station then by the time we strapped in a cloud moved in and it was absolute zero visibility. It was very disorienting. Oh yeah Merv the Perv took advantage of CJ last night while he was passed out. Not CJ I meant Stheve Buca.

Roley: This pen wrote "Hi Heather" on Matt's ass. Vicki chose not to use his pooter hole for the "A". Merv is such a dirty perv that we are pretty noided out. Steve Buca wasn't so bothered. My calves are barking. Quads holding up well after 0 hours sleep due to dehydration and heavy work load directing and producing Montana snowboard film. Matt took a big spill & sprained his anus... so he has a sprainus to his blanus. So don't be fooled by the rocks that he gots... he fell onto a rock pile Rock Rock Rock...Rockity Rock and yes he is still Matty from the block

CJ: Went up to Lone Peak today. There's some pretty crazy terrain up there. We could only see about 20 feet because of the clouds and the snow. I'm not sure if that was a good or bad but I did it. The snow overall was great again today! KEEBLER!! I hate Stheve Buca!

Nate: YES! I am no longer "No Summit Nate" I rode well today. I was hurting by the end of the day. But all the freshies were worth it!

Pete: Shedhorn trees after Lone Peak. Josh, Nate, and I rode till Nate made us go back. I met up with Vicki and Terra for two last powder runs. Another fun powder day...I'm blessed.

Terra: My ass has a fever it's so hot!! Great runs today over in Shedhorn. But the last few runs with Pete & Vicki were awesome.

Josh: Tomorrow we are Lone Devil Wolf from Hell! Hells Roar!

Glen: I love my ass pen! Strap broke but dude with broken pelvis rocks! I made it to the summit and it was beautiful. I take back my "that John Denver's full of shit" comment.

Vicki: Matt put me in a half nelson all for yelling Keebler Keebler Keebler Keebler!

Tuesday February 26th, 2008 Moonlight Basin

Date & Location: Tuesday February 26th, 2008 Moonlight Basin

Snow & Weather: 36 degrees soft snow

Vertical feet & runs: 14,340 feet 14 runs

Season total: 262,350 feet 359 runs

Comments: Rode with Pete, Terra, Josh, CJ, Glen, Vicki, Sean, Nate, and Christina. We tore up Moonlight Basin. I was not going to ride due to the level 3 deep muffin top contusion but I changed my mind and had a great day at Moonlight Basin. Nate, Josh, Pete, and I went to the Headwaters! Holy shit! That was steep! Josh said "it won't be fun but it will make your balls swell with pride". Later in the day I got stuck in flat powder trees and had to hike out. But holla back I had a first decent today!

Terra: Moonlight Basin rocked. Lots of groomers and cruisers but that is what the legs needed. Bluebirds, bluebird, bluebird.

Pete: Mellow Moonlight day. Peak run down Headwaters. It is movie day!!

Glen: Had a blast at Moonlight. Groomers kicked my ass! Potsie rules!

Roley: I woke up after 4 hours sleep to Josh clearing the the 2nd floor with a Hell's Roar. worked the legs in powder trees, long groomers, and loved movie day. Matt & I are officially movie producers with Glen as executive producer, so watch the Oscars next year.

Vicki: Really fun day at Moonlight Basin- just what the legs needed on day 3- groomers mixed in with some tree runs. Movie day rocked!

CJ: Moonlight was lots of fun. Long groomers and crazy stuff if you wanted it. I need to tell myself that I can do what I can do if I just do it, in the trees!! Oh yeah, apparently rest stops are hot spots for homosexuals.

Nate: Moonlight was great! The Headwaters was worth the top to get some money turns in the bottom bowl. Day 3 in the mountains and still loving it!

Wednesday February 27th, 2008 Hell's Roar Big Mtn Resort

Date & Location: Wed. February 27th, 2008 Hell's Roar Big Mountain Resort

Snow & Weather: 34 degrees mushy

Vertical feet & runs: 450 feet 7 runs

Season Total: 262,800 feet 366 runs

Comments: Rode with Pete, Nate, Josh, and Sean. We were going to take day off but after doing lunch we couldn't resist. We rode at Hell's Roar. First Pete and I hiked into the backcountry and did Pillow Top Drop. I was so f*ckin scared. Then we made a run/terrain park at the condo. The run was 60 vertical feet. Thanks CJ and Glen for shuttling us back up! We named the resort Hell's Roar Big Mountain Resort and the two runs were Pillow Top Drop and Keebler Terrain Park (I don't like that name but it was a group decision). When you did the jumps you had to make sure and carry a lot of thspeed (head bob to the right). Hells Roar hosted the first ever BFGSC King of the Hill Invitational. 1st- Roley 2nd-Josh 3rd-Nate 4th-Pete 5th-Matt. I got last but I was very proud to be one of the only 5 riders in the world to be invited to such a prestigious event.

Roley: I'd like to thank Jesus Christ (my homey) and God and Moses and Alla and Mohamed and especially Budha. I now will graciously retire as champion, never defeated in professional competition.

Pete: Pillow Top Drop (PTD) my heart was beating as fast as it was 17 hours earlier when fighting Matt...now we are staring down at PTD...and I'm scared. I gotta assume Matt is also feeling the heat. We'd hiked up a trail of chest deep snow some animal had made some time ago. The mountain air is thin. So with a racing heart I dropped in...in...Pillow Top Drop. I think Matt and I had an adrenaline rush for the next 1/2 hour. We used the energy to build a snow board park. Two jumps and a 3rd feature. Killer...fun to get these guys jumping!!

Nate: Wow! Who would have thought I would take 3rd in the Invitational. I am proud of it and maybe it will give me more confidence on the hill tomorrow.

Thursday February 28th, 2008 Big Sky

Date & Location: Thursday February 28th, 2008 Big Sky

Snow & Weather: 28 degrees 1" of new snow

Vertical feet & runs: 20,560 feet 15 runs

Season Total: 283,360 feet 381 runs

Comments: Rode with Terra, CJ, Pete, Josh, Vicki, Sean, Nate, and Glen. The snow was surprisingly good. We did the other half of Big Sky that we were missing. Nate and I put down some serious vertical feet. The last two runs were fabulous (yes I said it again Fabulous!) It was stheep and deep trees! Some great turns to end the day. But I had no business going as fast as I did through the stheep and deep trees! I was mad at Pete, he said he was going to Shedhorn but neglected to tell me it was via Lone Peak Summit. We went to Alpine Lounge, The Cabin Bar, Chets Bar, Whiskey Jacks, and Allgoods for apres ski. I will be or already am drunk ;) I loved Big Sky and will miss it! We are off to Bridger Bowl tomorrow!

Nate: Well this week has been fun. Matt, Jeff and I did 20,000 feet today. It was windy and snowing for most of the day. This has been an awesome week.

CJ: Last day at Big Sky. It was good times. Bridger is up next.

Terra: Goodbye Big Sky! Having dinner @ Allgoods. All beer here. No waters :)

The part of Sailor Vicki played by: Samuel L Jackson

Vicki: Good day today. Took about 1 1/2 hour break but did runs until lift close to end day. I'm super sad to leave Big Sky, this has been a great week- we are so lucky to have a great group like this! Bridger tomorrow! If you like Moonlight Basin...you'll love Bridger.

Roley: Tough day for me. Josh cured my dead legs with 240z Coors Light at lunch. I ended my affair with Greg's Malolo and rekindled the passions with my Custom. No contest, quote of the trip by Nate last night...edited for content (sorry Sean). Big Sky/Moonlight Basin ruled, one of my favorite resorts. We will hopefully finish the intro footage for the movie. I would totally come here again.

Glen: ummmmm!

Friday February 29th, 2008 Bridger Bowl

Date & Location: Friday February 29th, 2008 Bridger Bowl

Snow & Weather: 42 degrees wet heavy & some mushy freshies 7" in 24 hours

Vertical feet & runs: 10,060 feet 9 runs

Season Total: 293,420 feet 390 runs

Comments: Rode with Vicki, Pete, Terra, Josh, Sean, Nate and Glen. We rode Bridger Bowl and it was warm. We found some really heavy freshies (heavy like wet, not heavy like gnarly) to start the day. They were some great turns but we had to do the traverse from hell at the bottom. Vicki was "Crabby Vicki" today. Bridger had some nice steep stuff and variety. Tons of hikers hiking the ridges. Great mountain trip! Saw Glen crash twice getting off lift and he almost pulled me down with him. Total trip vert 75,670 feet.

Glen: Had a blast in Montana! Welch here we come.

CJ: Great trip. Great people. Great times.

Pete: Rocked 7 inches of white reDickulas wet snow at Bridger. If you like Moonlight Basin you'll love Bridger- Yesterday at Big Sky I took a cat to the peak and rode solo down powder blown peak. Killer!

Terra: Great but heavy snow @ Bridger. Almost as good as Moonlight Basin. Ha!

Roley: Fun stuff today. That's all.

Nate: What a week. 6 of 6 days boarding (including Keebler Terrain Park for 1) What could be better but good beer, great friends and awesome snow! Oh yeah, I suck.

30.9.07

Saturday March 1st, 2008 Welch Village

Date & Location: Saturday March 1st, 2008 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 36 degrees soft snow

Vertical feet & runs: 2,700 feet 8 runs

Season Total: 296,120 feet 398 runs

Comments: Rode with Pope, Greg, Rhett, DBD, Christina, and Heather (yes Heather made it out). It was my seventh day of riding in a row. We raced in Hilly Billy costumes. I got bit by a snow snake and got a level one elbow contusion. We rock! But not at racing.

Team time results best run:
Greg 33.03
Matt 36.43
Heather 40.91
Pope 44.06

Heather: These overalls make my vagina hurt. Other than that we look awesome! Today was fabulous, boas rock and I think I should always ride with one. Matt fell about 6 feet out of the gate on 1st race run and instantly made Pope and I more relaxed to race. No more "Devil Goes Down to Georgia" for Matt. I also never knew a Picasso could make an ass look so small. Holla!

Rhett: Finally able to get out on a board that works. Level 3 boner! Played photographer for the day. Had a blast!

Greg: Awesome snow 2day, we totally came in last in the big race. But we totally came in first in hotness! Holla !! with our hill billy gang outfits. Too much fun woot woot!! Special love goes to Bonnie for the great Sparks beakers!! Smoootch!!

Pope: Daggum! Dat girls beeehind is of monetary value y'alls.

Mike: It was fun in the sun by the window- I wish STEVE was here. Good time was had by all especially Rhett & Heather smelling Matt's shoes.

29.9.07

Saturday March 8th, 2008 Welch Village

Date & Location: Saturday March 8th, 2008 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 23 degrees hard and icy

Vertical feet & runs: 7,160 feet 21 runs

Season Total: 303,280 feet 419 runs

Comments: Rode with Greg, Glen, CJ, Darren, Christina, Vicki, Pete, and Terra. Heather and Caroline were also there giving the clues to the "medallion hunt". It was the BFGSC Treasure Hunt and everyone had a blast. Greg and I were the "medallions" we were incognito and on skis. Yes I said skis. It was so fun skiing around and getting close to everyone and they had no idea it was Greg and I. CJ gets the award for closest to us. Greg and CJ were less than 10 feet apart. It was funny and Greg and I were worried that we were gonna get caught. We were two chairs behind Glen and CJ on the triple chair. We were also very close to DBD and Christina on the the triple chair exit. While at the top of where Harley's meets the triple chair runs, Vicki did a buzz by Greg and I not once but twice, it was great! It took all four clues for us to be made. Once the 4th clue was given, the chase was on. Greg and I came down the triple chair and most people were waiting at the bottom of run without boards on. It was then a scene from "28 Days Later" as they all looked like zombies and started sprinting after me. I got caught but Greg got away for one more run. Darren got first place and CJ/Christina tied for second on a controversy. Christina tagged Greg first but he forgot to tell her to then tag Heather so CJ then tagged Greg and Heather. So we added another $25 bar tab. So first place received a $50 bar tab at Madd Jax and both CJ & Christina received $25 bar tabs. Not to mention the cool watches and chickens. We partied hard the rest of the day and I had to leave my car at Welch for the night. A couple of bummers during the day. #1- Bonnie told us that she won't be at Welch next year. #2- I hit two milestones while on skis and I am a little embarrassed about that. I went over 400 runs and 300,000 feet for the season. Here are the clues and bonus clues. Everyone received the regular clues but in order to get the bonus clue you had to do a shot.

Clue #1- Them time has come to search and find
Staying close to the east will ease your mind
Where the sun sets is not a good bet
where you want to be, Madd Jax you can see!

Bonus #1- The drink, I am sorry to make you do
but there is no bonus to this clue.
However bonus clues 2, 3, and 4
will promise that you score!

Clue #2- We know you will not be bored
for the treasure you hunt is not moored.
Localized to the east
stay here to catch the beast!

Bonus #2- The bonus to this clue:
There's more than one, there's two!

Clue #3- Pete's, Dan's, Dud's, Harley's
the search for treasure could be gnarly.
Ski Bob's, Liz, Dyke's, Bell Creek
keep your eyes peeled for two plank geeks!

Bonus #3- Don't wait here and let time lag
the game you want to play is known as tag!

Clue #4- Fully decked ski gear and cheer
waiting to be caught so they can drink a beer
one of them tall the other one queer!

Bonus #4- Greg and Matt are on skis, go tag them dumbass!

Sunday March 9th, 2008 Welch Village

Date & Location: Sunday March 9th, 2008 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 30 degrees ICY!!!!

Vertical feet & runs: 3,680 feet 11 runs

Season Total: 306,960 feet 430 runs

Comments: Rode with Josh, Glen, Roley, Pete and Terra. Last day for me at Welch. Worst snow of the season, they must have used a zamboni instead of a cat groomer. It was all ICE! Might as well called the runs Xcel Energy run, Mariucci Run, Englestad Run, Met Center Run. It is the last time at Madd Jax with Bonnie and it made me sad :( I snuck out at end of day without saying goodbye so I wouldn't cry. We will miss Bonnie GREATLY! She was the BEST!!!

Friday March 14th, 2008 Whitecap Mountain

Date & Location: Friday March 14th, 2008 Whitecap Mountain

Snow & Weather: 24 degrees and Icy

Vertical feet & runs: 5,420 feet 14 runs

Season Total: 312,380 feet 444 runs

Comments: Rode with CJ, Glen, DBD, Christina, Rhett, Heather, and Greg. Whitecap sucked, it was icy. The burly guy from last year was checking me out again this year. Silk panties at Joany's. She had way too many cum jokes. Greg and I hiked some back country stuff that I have been saying I was going to do for a couple years now. We did it and it was STEEP and crunchy snow and very scary. Plus we had way too many shots of silk panties at Joany's to be doing that steep of a run. Then we got way too drunk at the house and JJs!

CJ: Rode the new board! Now I just have to get some skills to go with my whole new setup. This group rocks!

26.9.07

Saturday March 15th, 2008 Blackjack Mountain

Date & Location: Saturday March 15th, 2008 Blackjack Mountain

Snow & Weather: nice groomers 32 degrees

Vertical feet & runs: 2,690 feet 6 runs

Season Total: 315,070 450 runs

Comments: Rode with CJ, Glen, DBD, Christina, Greg, and Jack. Decent day at Blackjack. We didn't do very many runs (except for Greg and Jack). Hung out at outside bar then inside bar watching Gophers basketball. Hung out with Rhett the Elf. We saw "Wade Gustafson" from Fargo so we reenacted the movie Fargo the rest of the day. "Dammit this is my deal!" Went to Pit Stop and then JJ's and as usual in Michigan we got way too drunk. Lots of today is censored by me not letting anyone else comment in the blog but I don't want to portray myself in a negative manner. If they want to fill in the missing pieces from today via comments on the blog then so be it.

Sunday: I received 7 of 9 party medals for the weekend. We bar hopped home starting with $8 screwdriver pitchers at Elkhorn. Great trip I love these guys.

25.9.07

Saturday April 5th, 2008 Lutsen

Date & Location: Saturday April 5th, 2008 Lutsen

Snow & Weather: 44 degrees Bluebird spring conditions

Vertical feet & runs: 16,330 feet 25 runs

Season total: 331,400 feet 475 runs

Comments: Rode with CJ and Glen. They are my hard core riders. We did a last minute end of the season Lutsen trip. The snow was great spring conditions. We rode fast and hard all day! I got sunburned! We got to do the super steep runs under the Bridge Chair since they weren't "ice walls" like they are during the season. It was an AWESOME day! Oh I almost forgot we almost ran over a timberwolf on the drive up last night. Jeff rode good ole #4 today. Now we are gonna join the Polar Bear Club...stay tuned.

CJ: Brought out the Oregon Ducks board this weekend. Next season is going to be fun with that board. It was nice out today and still pretty decent snow. I started and finished the season at Lutsen this year. Lots of fun with fun peeps. Matt can't add to the blog after he's done writing!

Glen: I rocked the slush. CJ installed a NOS on his good ole #4. We even saw 24 cock, Al Jefferson, and a chupa cabra on the way up. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Polar Bear addendum:

Matt: YES! CJ and I joined the Polar Bear Club. We swam in the balmy 38 degree waters of Lake Superior. There were icebergs in the water. It was totally rad! Good job CJ! CJ tried to drown me and hold me under the water. What a jerk!

CJ: Jumping in Lake Superior wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I would totally do it again somewhere that was less rocky. Props to Glen for being the videographer.

Sunday April 6th, 2008 Lutsen

Date & Location: Sunday April 6th, 2008 Lutsen

Snow & Weather: 34 degrees 2" fresh snow

Vertical feet & runs: 5,710 feet 10 runs

Season total: 337,110 feet 485 runs

Comments: Rode with CJ and Glen. Last night after joining the PBC we went to Blue Fin Bay for dinner. I ate 2 lbs of king crab. Then we watched Kansas whoop some UNC ass and hung out with HOT Neal! Then CJ beat me up when we got back to the hotel because he is mean and a jerk. Snowboarding was just OK today. It was impossible to top how much fun we had yesterday. There was 2" of fresh that was covering up the ice and crappy grooming that Lutsen does. I love Lutsen but their mountain maintenance totally sucks. Great end of season...unless I go next weekend which I may since 350,000 feet and 500 runs is within striking distance. Thank you Dr. Markman for my new knee, it rocks! We went to Old Chicago on way home and the waitress asked "how are you guys today?" and Glen said "none of your concern" he is a jerk just like CJ but I still love these guys. Jerks!!!

Glen: Lutsen, I'll see you next December. We are all anticipating the world premier of Montana 2K8: First Descent at the BFGSC yearly wrap. Bye Blog I'll miss you!

CJ: Last day of the season. Snow sucked but we still got to ride. We even got to see some surfers on Lake Superior in Duluth.

Saturday April 12th, 2008 Lutsen

Date & Location: Saturday April 12th, 2008 Lutsen

Snow & Weather: 36 degrees FRESHIES

Vertical feet & runs: 20,570 feet 31 runs

Season total: 357,670 feet 516 runs

Comments: Rode with Greg! Holy crap I talked Greg into going to Lutsen. We get one last weekend for the season. All the weather people said stay home last night and don't drive because it is scary blizzard. They were crazy, rodes were fine. Greg and I got up early and took Moose Access for the first lift on Moose Mountain. Holy crap we had a full on powder day as Lutsen received 13" in last couple days. We got first tracks not on just the first run but the first two because we were smart and did Moose Access instead of Gondola. Did you know in flat powder runs that snowboarders travel in single file to hide their numbers. We giggled like schoolgirls the whole day because we couldn't believe we were getting a powder day on April 12th. We eventually made it over to Timberwolf run where we were destroying the run until the Timberwolf decided to make us both it's bitches. We were a little overconfident and the Timberwolf was incahoots with the snow snakes. First I saw Greg get taken down by a snow snake it went: BOARD POOF BOARD POOF! He was a tumble weed. I thought no way the snow snakes would get me but I was wrong. ...OMG there is HOT NEAL!... Anyways I was riding and a snow snake popped up on my toeside, it came out of the snow looked at me and hissed then went over my board and dove into the snow on my heel side. It must have coiled with it's tail like a hoop because the nose of my board dove straight down under the snow and I tumbled. F*CK that hurt! After that we were going to take a break but our Moms always told us to clean our plates so we ate up the rest of the FRESHIES. We did my 500th run with a top to bottom bump run down Grizzly which was completely bumped out after we had done that run first tracks in the morning. We went over the 350,000 mark on Bridge Run a little later. We finished out the day and it was AWESOME! Went to Papa Charlies and watched some sucky live bands. What a great day. We ran into Tele Mike and his crew at Papa Charlies.

Greg: First off, thanks needs to go to Matt for making me go on this trip. I was completely done with the 07-08 snowboard season. Matt knows my weaknesses and can probably talk me into almost anything. Also I need to give a shout out to Angela Lowther who is graciously working for me on Sunday. Without her none of this would be possible. So that being said let's get down to the nitty gritty. I've been sick for 2 1/2 weeks the crud. We made great drive time, roads were supposed to be horrible but turned out to be clear. We listened to the Wild game since Matt gave up his playoff ticket to go snowboarding with me. Now that is hardcore. Wild win 3-2 in OT. After a lame continental breakfast we hit the slopes. We had first tracks on 2 runs. Sweet groomers and 10" of Pow on the edges. FUN FUN FUN! I peetered out at 18,800 vert so Matt went on alone to hit a Lutsen record 20,570. That's sa-weet!! Now we're chillin in Papa Chubbies having beer & water. Oh Matt turned beet red when he saw "hot Neal" sitting behind us. Anywho Peace out!!

Tele Mike: The Mountain Meltdown is going down as it should. Fresh powder, sun and the North Shore views...Later

Sunday April 13th, 2008 Lutsen

Date & Location: Sunday April 13th, 2008 Lutsen

Snow & Weather: 38 degrees spring conditions

Vertical feet & runs: 7,760 feet 12 runs

Season total: 365,430 feet 528 runs

Comments: Rode with Greg. "39 Days One SURVIVOR" Yes I rode 39 days for the season. It was the last day of the season for real this time. I am sore from yesterday, not fatigue sore but impact sore from the tumble I took after the snow snake incident. I couldn't have asked for anything better. Riding with my buddy Greg in Lutsen powder then spring conditions. THANKS GREG!!! It was so awesome to open and close the season at Lutsen with POW POW! My face got sun burned again. Check out the photo also check out the photos of "sad Greg" and "sad Matt" right before we take our last turns of the season. We saw Tele Mike, his wife Karen, Bill (mullet guy) and Annette from Welch today. BEST DAMN SEASON EVER!!!

Greg: Last night yours truly hit the wall hard. My cold flared up and after trying super hard my body said " I've had enough!!" and hit the brakes. I was so wiped out I could barely eat. There is light at the end of the tunnel though. I woke up today feeling much better. Matt and I hit the Lutsen Resort for an awesome breakfast buffet. We pulled on our boots for the last time this year and hit Moose Access. Fast snow. Rode hard. We were riding so hard that people on the chairlift were getting whiplash as we rocketed by. We saw the Welch Mountain gang (Mike, Bill, Annette and Karen) and Matt got attacked once again by the snow snake and fell right in front of everyone. After a handful of runs we did Moose Return back to Eagle. Halfway back we had to stop for a photo shoot- see pictures- We had awesome runs on Eagle until lift lines got out of hand. Matt had to chastize a couple of skiers who cut us off in the lift line, he said "I guess 1980s straight skis get to go first!!" to which the girl totally apologized and we felt kind of bad. Last run down Bridge and we ended the wonderful 2007-2008 season there. Thanks again Matt for making me go this weekend. FUN FUN FUN!!!

Jack's End of Season BFGSC Party and Pub Crawl!

Woo Hoo! Another great season. Jack hosted the annual end of season party and it was a blast and ruckus as always. We partied at Jack's and played some lawn dice, grilled some food, and watched the world premier of Self Sponsored. Everyone loved the movie. Greg made a kick ass snowboard bench for Heather.

After some pre-party we went and did the Shakopee pub crawl and everyone had no problems living up to the BFGSC lifestyle. It was a blast. I am gonna let the photos speak for themselves but I think we can all figure out who was the Gold Medal winner of the evening.

BEST SEASON EVER!!!

It is the end of the 2007-2008 season and it was the best ever! It started with a new knee from last Aprils ACL surgery. Then we opened the season with a Powder day at Lusten. We had great times as always at Welch including the Mardi Gras race and the BFGSC Treasure Hunt. Three mountain trips with great friends to Summit County, Steamboat, and Montana. And a close to the season with another Powder day at Lutsen.

365,430 feet 528 runs
